How to Take BYSTOLIC
As with any medication, it’s important to follow your doctor’s instructions when
taking BYSTOLIC.
For most patients, BYSTOLIC:
- Offers convenient once-daily dosing1
- Can be taken with or without food1
- Can be taken alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications1
For most patients, the recommended starting dose is 5 mg once daily.
If you require additional blood pressure reduction, your doctor may increase the
dose.
If you are being treated for a condition related to either your kidneys (renal impairment)
or liver (hepatic impairment), BYSTOLIC should be used with caution.
Adequate blood pressure control may require more than one kind of high blood pressure
medication. In fact, many people with high blood pressure take two or more medications.
In addition to beta blocker therapy with BYSTOLIC, treatment options may include
other types of high blood pressure medications such as diuretics, angiotensin-converting
enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), and calcium
channel blockers (CCBs).
Generally, BYSTOLIC can be taken with most other high blood pressure medications.1
The CCBs verapamil and diltiazem have been known to interact with beta blockers,
so people taking these medications with BYSTOLIC should be monitored by their doctors.
Ask your doctor for additional information about combining medications.
It’s important to let your doctor know immediately if you notice any changes in
how you are feeling with any new medication.
